Lockdown
In the unlikely event of a security breach or a concern about an unwanted or unlawful stranger, our team members are trained in lockdown procedures for each of their classrooms. In addition, our center is equipped with panic buttons throughout the center that directly call 911.
Emergency Situations and Evacuations
We make every effort to be prepared for potential emergency situations by doing monthly drills. We regularly schedule and practice emergency evacuations as required by Department of Children and Youth (DCY) licensing regulations for fire safety and weather safety, including tornadoes and severe thunderstorms, and we have instructed children and staff how to prepare for such emergencies. An emergency plan and list of procedures are posted in each classroom.
Please be aware of the procedures and evacuation location in the event of an emergency evacuation by reviewing the plan posted on your child’s classroom wall or speaking to your child’s team member. If an emergency requires evacuation, we’ll notify you as soon as the children have been relocated to a safe area. If you need information about an emergency affecting your center and are unable to reach the center directly, please contact your on-site Administrator or management team.
Weather/Tornado Drill Locations – Barnesville Campus
During weather and tornado drills, staff and children will move to designated areas based on their classroom:
Younger Toddlers move into their own classroom bathroom.
Infants move into the staff bathroom.
Preschool lines the interior wall in the main hallway.
School Age lines the interior wall in the main hallway.
Children in the hallway will remain on their knees with their hands over their heads until the drill is complete and the Administrator gives further instructions.
Child Accidents
We take every precaution to make sure your child is safe and that you receive communication regarding accidents or injuries. This includes frequent inspections and maintenance of our buildings, playground, and equipment.
Despite all our efforts, accidents do sometimes happen. If your child is injured at the center, you’ll receive an Incident/Accident Report at pickup time to be signed by the custodial guardian. If your child needs medical treatment, we’ll make every effort to contact you, and we’ll make sure your child receives any necessary emergency treatment onsite until we can reach you. If we can’t reach you, we’ll do our best to reach one of the emergency contacts listed on your Enrollment Agreement.
Emergency Transportation
If necessary, children will be transported for emergency treatment in an ambulance (accompanied by an Administrator) if you have pre-authorized emergency transportation and treatment in your enrollment packet. If you have not authorized emergency transportation and treatment, we will provide first aid until medical authorities arrive. We will contact the parent immediately to come to the center.
